It's that time of the year again...meatfest. For the past three years Bill and Aram have celebrated having their birthdays near each other by holding meatfest, a day when many of us come together and cook an entire animal. Two years ago it was a pig, last year it was a lamb, and this year was pig again. There was much pork consumed, beer drunk, and a good time had by all. Since I let my membership go by the wayside, Alex informed me a while back that the American Chemical Society would be hosting a winetasting at Rosenblum Cellars in Alameda. Since they specialize in Zinfandels and I happe to love zins, who was I to say no. The winetasting was on Saturday and it was quite enjoyable. I got the chance to talk to a bunch of older chemists from around the area in all sorts of fields of study, and enjoy some wine while I was at it. Who knows, maybe I'll even renew my membership. As always, my camera was with me, and I had fun walking around the winery with it unsupervised.

Jordan had a link to this online test on his site, so I decided to take it as many of you consider me a nerd. Well, I proved you! Clearly being a chemist helps on this test as I can recall there being at least 4 questions regarding the periodic table. Anyhow, I don't know if I should be proud or sad. For those who I haven't already talked to, I have a new computer! In preparation for writing a couple papers, my thesis, and giving job talks, Amy and I decided it was time for my old powerbook to retire. I'm now sporting a brand new 2.4 GHz 15" MacBook Pro! Here are some more complete specs:

I've been busy at work, so there hasn't been much to say here, but soon hopefully I'll have a new photoblog up to complement this site, so keep an eye out.
