California Highway Joys
On our way down to Great America on Sunday we found the corridor to South 880 was closed and we had to take a detour. Below was the problem. Apparently at 4 am a double tanker rolled on the ramp and exploded, melting both that stretch of 880 and 580 above it. Obviously this is causing some problems. The Governator has allocated 10 million to help the problem as fast as possible, but it could still be months before our highways are back to normal.

Great America, Santa Clara
Despite the traffic, we did make it to Great America on Sunday. It was a beautiful day and perfect for the park, sunny but not too hot. The water park has not opened yet, so we mainly went from one roller coaster to the next. Also, because most schools aren't out yet the park was relatively quiet, meaning we didn't have to stand in lines all day!

Down on the Embarcadaro
Our friend Matt who usually is teaching high school band in AZ, brought his kids for a band trip to San Francisco. This meant that we get a chance to hang out and see Matt interacting with his kids, "Mr. Sbalcio!" It was fun. I met up with Matt in SF on the Embarcadaro and we strolled around. This is a shot of Matt picking up some classic sourdough down on the wharf. Later we made our way to In & Out burger, and of course Ghirardelli Square before having some fresh chowder at Fisherman's Wharf.
